Suj, preliminary

Preliminary sketch of Suj. The nose and mouth are too big, clearly, and the eyes are not aligned properly, thus this does not do him justice at all. If I were to grid the photo, though, I think my efforts would be much more solid. Photo.

Herta Sourpeaches

I dislike this effort. I screwed it all up somehow, and it doesn't do the original picture justice at all. She seems to have taken the original photo offline. I could post it back here, but that seems wrong.

Bad Little Bo Peep

I ALMOST got the eyes right this time, but not quite. Still, not bad, even though the product is a little "busy". Here's the original.

Amélie Nothomb 1, dessinée

Meh. Compare.

Drawn Crawl

I call her Sally, as she makes me think of a salamander. I am pretty happy with the results here. The original.

January 12, 2007

Rose, dessinée

I could not get a decent likeness, which pisses me off, although when I compare this with the original, I can see where I went wrong. Maybe I will try to repair it.

January 8, 2007

Orchidée, dessinée

This is Rose's sister, Orchidée. I used a tight grid system to draw this. I missed a little on the eyes, but I think it's all right. In fact, because I messed up slightly with the eyes, it looks a little like Rose at that age. Compare to the original.

Quick sketches

These are some sketches I did to improve bodywork. Some of them were of Jayne Connery, Sean Connery's grand-niece. Just kidding about the Sean relation.

Eve

I wish I could find the original photo. Anyway, I promise to work on not having these cartoonish outlines all the time. Of course, expect the next few to have them, as I have been drawing without posting for quite a while.

Marie-Hélène Dagenais, ma version

Another attempt at negative space drawing. It's not bad, I think. Here is the original.

October 15, 2006

A study in negative space

This time I attempted to draw in negative space, entirely without any kind of map or tracing to go on. She's a little too thin, but it's not bad. I thought it would be neat to take a negative of this negative, and it produced some very interesting results. Both are best viewed from far, at a medium size.

Here's the original.

Svana

Compare to the original.

September 26, 2006

Tami

A slightly refined sketch. It's pretty close to the original.

September 21, 2006

Alone, take one

This is a cheap imitation. This is what happens when you overcommit to a mistake in the beginning of the drawing and are too lazy to properly plan it.

September 4, 2006

Doing groceries

This is my most complicated drawing yet as it's the only one with background people, as well as objects with which they interact. It wasn't easy, but when the original was sent to me via email, I couldn't resist the challenge. And I can say truthfully that the fact that she is exposing herself was not a factor in me drawing it, although I can fully appreciate it now that it is complete. Compare to the original sketch.

Sorry I couldn't fit the whole thing in, but you aren't missing much anyway.

Shirley Manson

I was on lunch and had some time to kill, so I sketched out Ms. Manson. I kinda like it. I could see her animated as part of a music video. She also reminds me of the cartoon Lola in Lola Rennt. For me it's amazing to see the two pictures of Shirley side by side. Here's the original photo.

Another Aslan attempt

This is version one of this Aslan drawing. It wasn't meant to be an exact reproduction as I was just messing around. But I did decide to develop it somewhat. I will do it again on a larger sheet of paper and see what I can come up with.

August 13, 2006

Selma

This is my version of Rebekka's niece Selma Rún. Although I really missed the mark the eyes (which in my view, really make the girl), they aren't bad. Also, her right cheek isn't aligned properly with her right eye as in the original. Again, a redo is necessary, but all in all, it's okay.

July 19, 2006

Rose

This is a drawing of Rose from a photo from two years ago. I didn't work too much on the likeness, so it doesn't look exactly like her, but I think it's pretty anyway. It's another drawing that I have to redo when I get better. Compare to the photo.

It's not Keanu

But at a glance from a distance, I can see why you might be confused.

July 9, 2006

Less ripped, more fem

This was a relatively quick sketch that I refined a little. I'd like to redo this one, though. Compare to the original photo.

July 8, 2006

My Aida

My version of Aida Yespica. I didn't try too hard on this one, to be honest. I'll have to come back to this one and do it again. It was mainly a shading and lighting exercise.

Aslan

This is a reproduction of Aslan's seated nude.
